EXERCISE – EXERCISE – EXERCISE -- A magnitude 7.6 earthquake has just struck Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan, on Sunday, November 15th, 2009, at 2050 local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The epicenter of the earthquake was located near Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani-administered Kashmir, and approximately 60 miles north-northeast of Islamabad. | Following reports from the USGS that a 7.6 Magnitude Earthquake has struck Muzaffarabad, Pakistan at 2050 Local Time November 15th, HISG's Global Operations Center has upgraded its Alert Level to a Monitoring Status (Level 2). Although no specific details regarding casualties or damage have yet been released from Pakistan, given the magnitude of the earthquake and recommendations from the USGS, it is likely that the devastation will be expansive. Therefore, the Global Operations Center will closely monitor this disaster and provide updates as more information develops. | ||
